Azerbaijan in world ranking for knowlegde of English language

Dutch people are best in speaking English, says The English Proficiency Index (EPI) compiled with EF Education First, international education company that specializes in language training at the end of 2019. Report informs that Sweden took second place in the ranking, followed by Norway. Denmark, Singapore, South Africa, Finland, Austria, Luxembourg and Germany are named among the best for the knowledge of the English language among their citizens.

Russia ranked 48th, falling into the category of countries with a relatively low level of the English language. Georgia and Iran are also in this category, ranking 56th and 69th, respectively. Turkey fell into the category of countries with a very low level of the English language, taking the 79th place. Azerbaijan took the 85th place. According to the data, 45.89% of men and 46.29% women in Azerbaijan speak English. Saudi Arabia and Kyrgyzstan had the worst indicators. Libya took the last place in the ranking.

The EF English Proficiency Index (EF EPI) covers 100 countries and attempts to rank countries by the average level of the English language skills amongst those adults who took the EF test.
