"The number of complaints about social problems is decreasing in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has made a great progress in ensuring human rights in comparison with other countries. We hope to eliminate all the problems existing in this direction," Commissioner for Human Rights Elmira Suleymanova told reporters.
According to Report, the Commissioner noted that the situation in the penitentiary institutions of Azerbaijan has changed drastically: "Family members and lawyers of the inmates also confirm this fact. Rude behavior against the detainees and other negative cases have almost been eliminated. I say it sincerely. We even tried to open workplaces for detainees in the penitentiary institutions, and knitting facilities have been established for women prisoners in Penitentiary Institution No. 4. They earn money and help their families."
