The 2019 edition of the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum gathered 30 participants from 30 countries to address the global challenge of heritage protection and conservation in the 21st century, Report informs citing UNESCO.

Following the case studies of the World Heritage proprieties in Azerbaijan, the theme of this year’s Forum was chosen as “World Heritage: Local Insights for Global Challenges”.

During the Forum, the participants exchanged their ideas, concerns on the protection and preservation of World Heritage, through multiple discussions, lectures, group work, and site visits, led by heritage experts.

They culminated their work into a Declaration, which was presented at the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee on 1 July 2019.

The World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2019 was hosted by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan as an integral part of the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee, in the framework of the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme, under the theme of ‘'World Heritage: Local Insights for Global Challenges’ from 23 June to 2 July 2019 in Baku (Azerbaijan).
