Scorching temperatures define 2024 as the hottest year on record

The year 2024 is likely to become the hottest year on record, according to data from the European Earth Observation and Mapping Service Copernicus.

According to Report, for the first time, the average global temperature is expected to surpass the pre-industrial level by a staggering 1.5 degrees Celsius.

This alarming prediction comes on the heels of October 2024 being the second warmest October globally, second only to the record-breaking temperatures of October 2023. The average temperature for October 2024 was a sweltering 15.25 degrees Celsius.

Last year, the average global temperature was already 1.48 degrees Celsius higher than the pre-industrial level, the press release says.
