Some decisions taken at previous Conferences of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) have either not been implemented or remain unfinished, Mukhtar Babayev, the Azerbaijani president's envoy on climate issues and president of COP29, said at a panel discussion at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Report informs.
Babayev emphasized the need to take more decisive and results-oriented steps in the interests of developing countries, including African ones: "Large and wealthy countries, acting together, should take into account the decisions taken at COP. All annual discussions pursue the same goal. However, no significant changes have been observed from year to year."
