‘Wastes turn into into fish feed in seas and oceans, then we and our children eat the fish’, Head of the EU delegation in Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas told journalists, Report informs.

According to him, people should be more protective and careful to nature: ‘Today, many officials and representatives of foreign diplomatic corpus, volunteers gathered in the Baku beach. We want to clean the seaside from plastic wastes. I also want to draw the attention of the community to one more issue. We use cellophane bags only fifteen minutes. But their disappearance in the nature takes 100 years. These bags turn into fish feed in seas and oceans and then we and our children eat the fish. The matter is about food safety’.

Kestutis Jankauskas called on markets and citizens to refuse cellophane bags: ‘People should use other bags. Today, the offices of EU in 141 countries gathered in beaches, clean the beaches from plastic bags’.
