Unfortunately, the peacekeepers did not create conditions for monitoring by Azerbaijani experts, Vugar Karimov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, told reporters in Baku.
"Environmental activists are holding action in Shusha. The proceedings started on December 2. A group of experts from state institutions went there.
"That group was mainly concerned with the exploitation of our deposits and the creation of conditions for environmental monitoring. Unfortunately, the conditions are not created. Azerbaijan's environmental NGO and many activists have been holding a picket there since morning. They express their objections to the Russian peacekeepers. The main goal is to stop exploitation, to stop the illegal use of our fields.
"Also, our ecologists must calculate the damage and monitor the environmental effects. Unfortunately, we could not achieve this in the past few days. Our request was prevented under various excuses. Azerbaijan insists on this issue," Karimov said.
