Azerbaijan discusses holding Armenia accountable for damage to nature during years of occupation

Azerbaijan, together with experts, is discussing the issues of bringing Armenia to responsibility for damage to the environment of Karabakh during the years of occupation, head of the working group on environmental issues of the interdepartmental center operating under the coordination headquarters created to centrally resolve issues in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov said, Report informs.

Karimov reported on the implementation of environmental measures in the Shusha district, including reforestation and the creation of new green areas, informed on measures to resume the activities of the Dashalti State Nature Reserve, established in 1988 with the aim of protecting and preserving rare natural complexes, in particular historical and paleontological monuments in the administrative territory of Khojaly and Shusha districts.

“We are exchanging information with experts in order to achieve an international legal assessment of the damage caused by Armenia to the environment during the 30-year period of occupation,” he said.
