Wedding ceremonies were not allowed and other reasons coupled with psychological factors affected divorces, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Aynur Sofiyeva told Report.
"It is inappropriate to compare 2020-2021 with previous years. This refers not only to marriages and divorces, but also to other issues since these figures will not tell us anything," she said.
“As a whole, by 2019, we observed certain stable drop in the amount of marriages, whereas there was an increase in the number of divorces. In the world experience, too, divorces are 70-80 percent higher,” she said.
