Despite Azerbaijan's repeated appeals, Armenia does not comply with its obligations under international law and has been avoiding providing information about prisoners of war, missing persons, and hostages for more than thirty years, Azerbaijan's Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva said while commenting on the identification of three more people considered missing in the First Karabakh War, Report informs.
The ombudsman noted that as a result of the work done to identify human remains found in mass graves in the liberated territories, the identities of nearly 170 Azerbaijanis have been determined so far. This process is still ongoing.
"We believe that Armenia should comply with its obligations under international treaties to which it is a party, should not conceal information about the fate of our compatriots, and should provide accurate information about the burial sites of murdered persons," Sabina Aliyeva emphasized.
