"At a time of chaos in Azerbaijan in the 1990s, when people's trust was lost, the sheikh's strong civic position helped to regain the people's trust," Muzaffar Talibli, head of the department for work with ethnic minorities and religious organizations of the Presidential Administration's Public Policy Department, told the presentation of a book "Fatherland and Faith" at the Board of Muslims of the Caucasus.
After the great leader Heydar Aliyev came to power in 1993, he began to revive the paralyzed spheres of life and restore national-moral solidarity, socio-political stability, he opined.
"The reason for it is that no country can talk about progress and development without these two conditions. At that time, there were too many provocations against the formation and maintenance of national and spiritual solidarity. Internal and external processes were taking place in Azerbaijan. The activities of the Board of Muslims of the Caucasus, as well as religious denominations in the formation of national-spiritual solidarity was positive. When President Ilham Aliyev came to power in 2003, he put forward new development strategies based on this foundation. Over time, the country's economic development has been achieved, the military and other areas have strengthened, and successes in foreign policy have been achieved. As a result, under the recent tense historical conditions, a great historical victory was achieved in the geography over the last 200 years. There are many factors that determine this victory."
Talibli said that the enemy and forces behind it carried out insidious provocations and propaganda to disrupt the moral solidarity, ethnic and religious unity, state-government-people's unity in Azerbaijan and still do not give up their intentions.
"In the war, the enemy saw the opposite. All young people and citizens, regardless of their religious affiliation, went to die in the army. The fact that the president addressed the global audience alone during the war once again revealed the truth. The services of believers in conveying these truths to the world community are undeniable."
