ICRC reports prove that Lachin road is not blocked

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has facilitated the safe passage of 60 patients needing urgent medical care from Khankandi to Armenia along the Lachin corridor, the ICRC tweeted, Report informs.

Besides, in agreement with the parties and at the request of relatives, since the beginning of January, the ICRC has facilitated the passage of 95 citizens of Armenian ethnicity along this road.

The committee also provided medicines, infant formula and food to medical institutions.

“Last month, we distributed food and hygiene items to 8 hospitals, a physical rehabilitation center, an institution taking care of more than 300 elders, and a center for children. In addition, we started distributing food parcels and hygiene boxes to pregnant women in need,” the ICRC said.

Azerbaijani MP Aydin Mirzazada, in his commentary to Report, noted that the ICRC reports on the unhindered provision of assistance to sick people and people in need of medical care prove once again that there is no blockade from the Azerbaijani side. He stressed that the protests of Azerbaijani eco-activists, which have been ongoing since December 12, 2022, on the Khankandi-Lachin road, aim to protect nature in the territories of Azerbaijan under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers.

“It is clear from the videos and reports that there can be no talk of any blockade. The free movement of vehicles carrying the civilian population and humanitarian aid has been ensured. There are also no obstacles to the passage of cars and equipment belonging to Russian peacekeepers.”

The MP noted that today Armenian nationalists and foreign anti-Azerbaijani circles accuse Baku of a non-existent issue - creating a blockade.

“Their goal is to discredit Azerbaijan and disseminate slanderous, provocative materials against our country, because the implementation of an independent domestic and foreign policy by Azerbaijan is unprofitable for them. At the same time, they are trying to put political pressure on Azerbaijan. And today, anti-Azerbaijani actions can be considered one of the instruments of pressure. Although the Armenians and their patrons try to spread false information, the world community generally does not believe these lies. Although certain circles and forces display political hypocrisy, it is impossible to hide the truth.”
