Hikmat Hajiyev: Geniuses only have their date of birth marked on calendar

Only the birthdays of great people are marked on the calendar, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev said, Report informs.

"Therefore, the people of Azerbaijan celebrate May 10 as the birthday of the great leader. The legacy of the great leader lives in the hearts of the Azerbaijani people. It is because the activities of the great leader were directly connected with the development of Azerbaijan and the strengthening of our statehood," he said.

According to him, the phenomenon of the great leader must be viewed not only in the context of the leadership of Azerbaijan.

"It should be especially noted that the so-called Karabakh movement - that is, the occupation of Karabakh by Armenia with the support of the Armenian lobby and circles - began in the late 1980s, after the removal of the great leader from the leadership of the USSR and the execution of insidious plans against him. However, they did not take into account two things - the determination of the great leader and the will of the Azerbaijani people. The foundations for strengthening Azerbaijani statehood were laid. And with this step, the Azerbaijani state entered a new stage of development. Genius leaders are remembered not only for the era they lived in, but also for the political legacy they left behind."

Hajiyev noted that the policy established by the great leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully continuing today.

"He bequeathed only one thing - to liberate Karabakh and our lands from occupation. On November 8, 2020, the heart of Azerbaijan - Shusha was liberated from occupation. Mr. President, in his address to our people, to the Azerbaijanis of the world, especially noted that he had fulfilled his father's will."
