A high voter turnout is observed in Azerbaijan’s Northern districts during the municipal elections.
According to Report, a total of 346,000 registered voters are casting their votes at 429 polling stations in the electoral districts of 55 Siyazan-Guba-Khyzy, 56 Shabran-Khachmaz, 57 Khachmaz city, 58 Khachmaz village, 59 Guba, 60 Guba-Gusar, and 61 Gusar operating in the region.
It was reported that 351 of them will be voting for the first time.
A total of 1,312 candidates are competing for 54 municipalities.
The oldest voter in the region is 104-year-old Meynas Magsudova, who lives in the Agbash village of the Shabran district.
Voting will last until 19:00 local time (GMT+4).
The elections are being held in 5,846 polling stations covering 118 electoral districts across the country. Some 16,092 candidates are competing for 8,071 members of 685 municipalities.
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), 5,961,987 voters have the right to vote in municipal elections.
