Cybersecurity support for NGOs should be expanded — AKTA

Azerbaijan needs to step up cybersecurity efforts in the non-governmental organization (NGO) sector, Rauf Jabbarov, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Organizations Association (AKTA), said.

According to Report, he made the remarks to journalists during an experience-sharing session organized by the National NGO Forum with the participation of experts from NGO Tech Talks.

Jabbarov said considerable attention is being paid to cybersecurity in both the public and private sectors, but more work is needed in the NGO sector.

"Azerbaijan is carrying out extensive work on digitalization, and the digital development action plan approved by President Ilham Aliyev this year has identified a number of priorities. At the same time, rapid digitalization creates certain risks, making cybersecurity increasingly important. For this reason, special attention must be paid to cybersecurity across different sectors," he said.

Jabbarov noted that NGOs often have limited information technology and human resources.

"For this reason, it is very important to provide NGOs with dedicated support and regular awareness training. Educating employees of organizations that lack IT resources can help prevent a number of potential threats," he said.
