CEC Chief: Negative cases are often regarded as not accidental in Azerbaijan
Report / Firi Salim

"Any event involving millions of people cannot be perfect, no matter what country it takes place in," Chairman of the Central election Commission of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov said. He spoke today at a regional seminar-meeting dedicated to resolving electoral disputes in court within the framework of a joint project of the Central Election Commission, the Supreme court and the courts of appeal.

"For example, when something negative occurs in Germany, they take it as a coincidence and quickly eliminate this problem. However, if the same thing happens in Azerbaijan, few would say that it happened by accident," he said.

According to him, the election process allows other interested bodies to interfere with the country's internal affairs: "Democracy is the internal business of not a single nation but the entire humanity. And the election is an indicator of democracy."
