Azerbaijani MFA: Armenia abuses presence of EU mission on its territory to increase tension in region and cover up its provocations 

The Armenian side should stop abusing the presence of the EU mission on its territory to increase tension in the region and cover up its military provocations, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

“On March 20, the Armenian armed forces fired on the positions of the Azerbaijan State Border Service (SBS) located at the height of Aghbashyurd, the Zangilan district, from their positions in the Nerkin-And settlement of the Gafan region, and a junior sergeant of the Border Service was wounded.

“We strongly condemn Armenia’s military provocation and demand that Armenia abandon its increasingly aggressive rhetoric and put an end to such steps that increase tension in the region.

“The Armenian side should stop abusing the presence of the EU mission on its territory to increase tension in the region and cover up its military provocations.

“It is necessary that the presence of the EU mission in Armenia does not become an excuse for Armenia to refuse to fulfill its obligations.

“All responsibility for provocations against the peace-building measures carried out by Azerbaijan in the region lies with the political-military leadership of Armenia,” the ministry said.
