Azerbaijan to extend quarantine regime

"I think that the adoption of restrictive measures so far, the gradual tightening of these measures, as well as the provision of social protection for citizens working in areas affected by the pandemic, reflects our correct policy."

Report quotes the President Ilham Aliyev, as saying at a meeting through videoconference with Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Sahil Babayev and Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.

"Despite the positive dynamics in statistics, we will continue keeping the situation under control. We will see how long this dynamic will continue, whether it will be stable or not. And what additional measures we should take.

The quarantine was scheduled for April 20. However, according to experts, the deadline should be extended. I believe this will be the right move since the positive dynamics have just begun to manifest. We need to make this momentum sustainable. Therefore, the Operations Headquarters will provide information on this issue soon. Extending the quarantine regime is the only right decision."
