Representative of Western Azerbaijan Community registered for parliamentary elections in Türkiye

Darya Akdemir, representing the Western Azerbaijan Community in Türkiye, was registered to participate in the parliamentary elections in Türkiye, which will be held on May 14, she personally told Report's Ankara Bureau.

Akdemir is the writer, researcher of Azerbaijani origin, the chairperson of the Turkish Anka Association.

She said she nominated her candidacy independently from the third constituency of Istanbul and received documents that she submitted to the Central Election Commission.

Akdemir explained her desire to become a member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly in the following way:

"My goal is to provide as much support as possible to the development of relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, as well as other Turkic-speaking states."
