The Assistant to the Azerbaijan president and head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs Hikmat Hajiyev gave an interview to the Canadian TV channel CTV News, Report says.

Hajiyev noted that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan suffered from Armenia's military aggression. He also said Armenia occupied 20 percent of our territories and carried out ethnic cleansing in the occupied territories.

Touching upon the recent military provocation of Armenia in Tovuz direction of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, Hajiyev said that the Armenian armed forces used artillery to fire on Azerbaijani positions and killed our servicemen, and purposefully targeted Azerbaijani settlements and civilians.

Speaking about activities of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Hajiyev said it is the only NPP in the world that uses Chernobyl technology.

"A nuclear power plant using outdated technology is a threat to the region, and radioactive substances exported from the Metsamor have already become the subject of smuggling."

President's Assistant urged Azerbaijanis in Canada and law enforcement agencies of the country to be vigilant against the fact that Armenian lobby groups are attacking Azerbaijanis in Los Angeles, Paris, and Brussels.
