One more US city declares Feb. 26 as Khojaly Genocide Day

Mayor of Hallandale Beach (Florida) Joy Cooper has declared Feb. 26, 2021 as the Khojaly genocide commemoration day, Head of the Azerbaijani American Cultural Association operating in Miami in the US State of Florida Tohfa Eminova told the local bureau of Report.

The mayor’s statement on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide says that over 600 innocent people, including women and children, were killed as a result of the massacre by the Armenian Armed Forces against the civilian population of Azerbaijan on the night of February 25-26, 1992.

Eminova noted that the mayor of the city compared the Khojaly genocide with the tragedy of the Holocaust committed by the Nazis against the Jews.

More than 24 US states, including Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, recognized and condemned the Khojaly genocide.
