Georgia's State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili has reacted harshly to the insulting comments and statements about local Azerbaijanis on social media in recent days.

Local Bureau of Report says she said that such cases are unacceptable.

According to the State Minister, such views and statements directed against the Georgian society: "I am sure that the society also understands that such tend to strain relations in the society will not yield any results. We need unity and mutual support to successfully fight the invisible enemy against the backdrop of a serious global pandemic."

Tsikhelashvili noted that the life and health of every citizen, regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation, is an equal priority in all regions of Georgia: "All citizens of Georgia are equal. Ethnic diversity is a unique treasure of our country and will continue in this way."

Notably, during the coronavirus pandemic, there are insulting, degrading views and comments on national grounds against local Azerbaijani citizens on social networks in Georgia.
