Dutch newspaper publishes untrue information about Azerbaijan

The 'Ana Vatan' (Motherland) Association of Azerbaijani Women of the Netherlands has protested against inaccurate information about Azerbaijan published by Dutch daily newspaper "De Volkstrant," Report informs, citing the State Committee on Works with Diaspora.

According to the Committee, the chairman of the Association, Maisa Agamirzayeva, sent a letter to the newspaper, saying that the Netherlanders of Azerbaijani origin consider it essential to publish accurate information about Armenia's military provocations against Azerbaijan.

Reminding that conflicts are a sensitive issue and approaches to them are different, the chairman of the Association said that such reports should be presented honestly and impartially. "At a time when facts and fictions are messy, a media outlet like De Volkskrant must stand by objectivity," the letter said.

According to the letter, the claim of journalist Carlijn van Esch "Tens of thousands of Armenians were killed, then neighboring Armenia intervened and occupied Nagorno-Karabakh" is false, and it is unacceptable to present this untrue information as a historical fact: "A journalist writing about such a sensitive topic, should know history well. "Murder of tens of thousands of Armenians" is a lie, and such an event has never happened in history. Only 150,000 people lived in the whole territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the journalist, a significant part of the area was "murdered."

The Association demanded that the newspaper's management correct the mistake immediately.
