Azerbaijan prioritizes institutional ties between diaspora agencies

Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to strengthening direct institutional ties between state bodies responsible for diaspora affairs, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov said at the First Forum of Muslim Diasporas of OIC Countries in Ankara, Report's Turkish bureau informs.

According to him, eliminating discrimination and harmful stereotypes, preserving heritage and national identity, maintaining young people's connection with their roots and ensuring their successful integration into host societies are also constantly among Azerbaijan's priorities.

"The current forum could eventually develop into an important platform for establishing sustainable ties between institutions responsible for diaspora affairs across the OIC space. However, such cooperation should not be limited to state institutions. Diaspora organizations, young people, women, students, academics, entrepreneurs and professionals working in various fields should also be more actively involved in this process," he said.
