"The Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship, Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation was established in 1997 at the suggestion of great leader Heydar Aliyev and on the initiative of the founder of Bilkent University, Professor Ihsan Dogramaci. Although the Foundation's Charter envisages an article on the opening of a House of Culture and Research Center under the organization, this work had not been carried out so far."
Professor Aygun Attar, Chairman of the Board of the Turkish-Azerbaijani Friendship, Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation, Head of the newly opened House of Azerbaijan in Ankara, told Report.
Commenting on the reports about the Azerbaijan House, the head of the organization said that the Turkish-Azerbaijani Friendship, Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation continued activity until 2019 not in the building opened by national leader Heydar Aliyev, but in another office under Bilkent University. The State Committee on Work with Diaspora repaired the foundation's building and put it into operation. We have photos of the foundation before the repair. The State Committee has restored the building, which is the spiritual heritage of the great leader and has not been used for years, and handed it over to our diaspora. The Committee supported the initiative to open the House of Azerbaijan in Turkey, which is also the issue arising from the Charter of our foundation.
By the board's decision last year, the official opening of the House of Azerbaijan took place on June 28 in Ankara. All the needs of the House of Azerbaijan are met by the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora. Necessary infrastructure, such as a library and a conference hall, has been created here to carry out work in the interests of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The Karabakh Studies and Shusha Congress Center under the Azerbaijan House was opened with the support of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora. We must thank the State Committee, which implements the policy of our state jointly with compatriots living abroad, for this great activity, which is extremely important for the benefit of the country and the state's interests.
