The great Nizami Ganjavi was not only a unique person, but also a poet and thinker of the era, Ismail Serageldin, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, said during a panel dedicated to the poet's rich heritage in Ganja today.
He stressed that the International Center, which bears the name of the great thinker, started operating 11 years ago.
"I have always been impressed by the legacy of Nizami Ganjavi. He excelled in many areas, not only in the arts, but also in mathematics, jurisprudence, astronomy, etc.," he said.
According to Serageldin, today the world is facing many social problems, and Nizami Ganjavi spoke about these problems in his works back in those days.
"He glorified the ideas of humanism, gender equality, instilled respect for women," he added.
