The Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the ANAS found examples of the material culture belonging to ancient times in Khinalig, Report informs.
As a result of archeological studies in Khinalig State Historical-Architectural and Ethnographic Reserve, the researchers revealed an ancient settlement and cemetery in about 1 hectare.
The head of the Khinalig archeological expedition, Doctor of Philosophy in History Idris Aliyev, said that more than 15 mounds were discovered in the south-eastern part of the area.
Based on the preliminary results, the archaeologist stressed that the cemetery dates back to antiquity. He said pottery, iron weapons, bronze ornaments, beads made of various minerals and glass, and rare finds were discovered in the area.
