Jennifer Morgan: Germany ready to provide technical support as needed of COP host country

Germany is ready to provide technical support as needed of the COP troika - the UAE, Azerbaijan and Brazil, Jennifer Morgan, Secretary of State and Special Representative of Germany for International Climate Action at the German Foreign Ministry, said at a meeting with a group of journalists in Baku, Report informs.

According to her, the agenda of the visit to Baku of the German special representative includes a meeting with the ministers of ecology, economy, energy, as well as with the deputy minister of foreign affairs to discuss issues of cooperation within the COP, as well as on a bilateral basis.

“Germany has a lot of experience hosting COP. The climate secretariat is based in Germany and we host the Petersburg Climate Dialogue every year,” Morgan said.

Morgan noted that this dialogue, in fact, is a meeting of about 40 countries that come together and can exchange expectations and ideas: “So this is a chance for Azerbaijan to really work with them.”

The secretary of state also noted that the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue will take place in Germany in March. According to her, this meeting will be devoted to the implementation of COP28 decisions.

“This could also be a good way to collaborate to see how the COP 28-29 transition is handled,” she added.
