A training seminar on the "IPCC Inventory Programme and its link with the UNFCCC reporting mechanism" is being held in Baku as part of the COP29 Presidency's climate transparency initiatives. It is jointly organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
As Report informs, the training seminar is aimed at improving the knowledge and skills of local and foreign specialists regarding the application of the reporting mechanism provided by the UNFCCC for the preparation of Biennial Transparency Reports.
At the opening of the training seminar, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Umayra Taghiyeva emphasized the importance of ensuring transparency in the climate sector and improving skills in the field of greenhouse gas emissions inventory to fight climate change.
The three-day training seminar is attended by representatives of government agencies of Azerbaijan, as well as more than 100 experts from various countries.
