Wealth of richest Russians grows almost $3B

The wealth of the richest Russian entrepreneurs has increased by $2.7 billion after the resumption of trading on the Moscow Exchange on March 24, Report informs citing TASS.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, 10 Russian businessmen were able to increase their wealth after the opening of trading. In particular, the main shareholder of the investment company Volga Group, Gennady Timchenko, who was previously on the sanctions lists of the EU, the US and the UK, as well as the chairman of the board of Novatek, Leonid Mikhelson, increased their capital by more than $1 billion.

Norilsk Nickel President Vladimir Potanin remains the richest man in Russia with a total net worth of $26.3 billion.

Bloomberg has been publishing its Billionaires Index since March 2012, which includes information about the state of the 500 richest people on the planet.

On March 24, 2022, trading in shares resumed on the stock market of the Moscow Exchange after a month-long suspension. Trades were held in 33 shares of Russian issuers included in the Moscow Exchange Index.

The Moscow Exchange Index at the end of the trading day increased by 4.4% and amounted to 2,578.5 points compared to the close of trading on February 25, 2022. Most shares showed positive price dynamics. The total volume of trading in shares amounted to 108.6 billion rubles, including within the opening auction - 3.6 billion rubles, the closing auction - 2.1 billion rubles.
