Ulyanovsk governor: We are planning to invite large Azerbaijani companies to cooperation

"Azerbaijan is among the top ten countries with which we are currently developing foreign trade relations. We have great prospects," Sergey Morozov, the governor of the Ulyanovsk region of Russia, said in an exclusive interview with the Russian bureau of Report.

Morozov spoke about the completion of the reconstruction of the Azerbaijani territory in the Drujba Narodov Park implemented by the Azerbaijani diaspora of the region: "I want to thank Azerbaijan for the great attention to the Ulyanovsk region. To some extent, I can tell you that we have completed the reconstruction of the main part of Azerbaijani in the park, which is the main friendship park between the countries in the Russian Federation, ahead of schedule. This was done by the Azerbaijan national-cultural autonomy of the Ulyanovsk area ".

Speaking about the economy, the governor noted that Azerbaijan is one of the countries with which the region is actively developing foreign trade relations: "Now we are very actively developing relations with 65 countries. Our trade is growing significantly, by an average of 20-25%. It has already reached record figures for the Ulyanovsk region - $ 1.5 billion. Azerbaijan is in the top ten territories with whom we are currently developing foreign trade relations. We have great prospects. Very soon we are planning to hold a series of negotiations with Azerbaijani companies, that have a desire to build relations with the Ulyanovsk region. We plan to invite large Azerbaijani companies that are actively engaged in trade to cooperate. We want to create a free-trade zone in our region, using not only the Silk Road and relations with China, but also with Iran via Azerbaijan. It is very important for us."

"The second topic is related to shipbuilding. We are developing shipbuilding and we want the Volga River and the Caspian Sea to help us connect not only with Azerbaijan, but also through it with the Middle East. We have a lot of such plans and I hope that this year I will be able to meet with the leadership of the country in order to make appropriate proposals that would allow us to become much richer together," Morozov said.
