UAE calls for rethinking approaches to housing construction

The housing sector needs a fundamental review of most components, as it is necessary to focus on the future.

Report informs that Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan Al Mansoori, undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for infrastructure and transport affairs, said this at a high-level meeting of the Baku Sustainability Coalition for Urban Climate Action and Sustainable Urbanization, held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

"I believe that all the challenges we currently face push each of us to ensure a decent standard of living both for ourselves and for future generations. In this regard, all housing construction must be restructured, taking into account the principles of sustainable development and climate transformations. All this requires strategic planning for the long term.

"I am confident that we must help advance the green agenda and integrate the climate factor into all political decisions being made - this is of primary importance. This is about people"s housing and living environment, so we are obliged to improve our policy in this direction. A single platform is needed that will clearly define the concrete steps required for implementation," he stressed.
