Moscow. 14 December. REPORT.AZ/ The year 2018 has become successful in a number of areas of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin said.

Russian bureau of Report informs that at an open meeting of the intergovernmental commission following a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Shahin Mustafayev in Moscow.

"We have had a very detailed discussion in a narrow format. Indeed, 2018 has become successful in a number of areas. We have a positive dynamic in the development of foreign economic relations in a set of very different areas - in trade, in investment, and in a number of other areas of cooperation”, Oreshkin said.

According to him, important steps have been taken in key areas of cooperation - trade, transport, finance, humanitarian ties, and "very important reserves" have been created.

Azerbaijani Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev pointed out that the meeting between the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev in September of the outgoing year and the signing of about 20 documents on bilateral cooperation influenced the development of economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

“Indeed, we have dynamics in all directions. Statistics confirms the increase in trade turnover for 2017, and for 9 months of 2018. For 2017, the increase is 30.6%. Dynamics is determined by imports and exports, which means that our relations are mutually beneficial," Mustafayev said.

The ministers of economy of Azerbaijan and Russia signed a memorandum by results of the meeting.
