PwС Azerbaijan: Labor law should be revised

Baku. 5 June. REPORT.AZ/ "Labor law should be revised, a new chapter describing characteristics of employment in the oil industry should be added".

Report informs, PwС Azerbaijan Senior Legal Associate for Labor and Migration Issues Bahar Kavuzova stated in her article in "Risk" magazine.

"Proceeding from the problems in practice, we can say that labor law should be revised, a number of gaps and misunderstandings should be eliminated to coordinate with rapid development of oil and gas industry. Thus, a new chapter describing characteristics of employment in the oil industry should be added to the Labor Code and all legal issues arising from this issue should be governed", B.Kavuzova said.

The lawyer said that majority of violations revealed during inspections by the State Labor Inspectorate and fines are due to a number of gaps and ambiguous provisions, but not intentional violations.

"It is important for employers to consider best practice, in addition to local legislation", the company official said.
