Peter Haas: US companies on energy, oil and gas, ICT, transport and tourism may be interested in operating in Azerbaijan

"US an Azerbaijan have sufficiently strong relations," Peter Haas, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Economic Affairs, said at the fourth meeting of the U.S.-Azerbaijan Economic Partnership Commission.

According to him, cooperation between the two countries manifests itself in energy and security issues: "US companies on energy, oil and gas, ICT, transport and tourism may be interested in operating in Azerbaijan. Generally, US companies prefer to operate in countries with strong judicial system. Azerbaijan took a number of successful steps in this direction in the recent years and achieved progress."

Haas hopes that economic and energy security issues between Azerbaijan and US wil be extended more.

He noted that US officials on energy issues will visit Azerbaijan a week later: ‘We highly appreciate Azerbaijan’s energy projects and its position in the region. It’s pleasing that U.S.-Azerbaijan Economic Partnership Commission was restored after seven years’.
