Natia Turnava: Over 1,000 companies with Azerbaijani, Turkish investments in Georgia

"We need to make our regional markets more attractive," Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava told the Azerbaijani-Georgian-Turkish business forum in Baku, Report informs,

There are extensive economic ties between the three countries, she said: “In all three countries, there is a very good relationship between businesses and governments. We have taken a series of steps to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on business. These steps mainly include deferring the collection of some taxes, support for joint business projects, the creation of new financial, credit, and mortgage opportunities, as well as the provision of certain benefits for industries such as tourism, etc. It is thanks to these steps that we have achieved double-digit development indicators in 2021.

“As far as I know, Azerbaijan and Turkey have taken similar steps. Based on the figures of the past 10 months, I can say that Turkey is the first and Azerbaijan is the fourth largest trading partner of Georgia. Currently, there are over 1,000 companies with Azerbaijani and Turkish investments in Georgia."

The Georgian minister called on business people to invest in her country: “There is economic stability in Georgia, and this is something that not only we ourselves but also the three largest rating agencies are talking about. I would also like to note that we expect the highest development rate in the recent 5 years, which, according to forecasts, will amount to 6% this and next year. In the World Bank Doing Business rating, our country is in seventh place, which speaks of the excellent conditions created for business people. We provide investors with land plots at a symbolic price, we also have grant programs for foreign investors."
