Michelin guide freezes Russia projects

Michelin Guide said that it had decided to freeze its projects in Russia over the situation in Ukraine. In 2022, Moscow will not participate in the selection of restaurants applying for the Red Guide star, Report informs, citing Le Figaro newspaper.

"We have decided not to promote the Moscow destination. In this regard, there will be no new selection (restaurants) in Moscow this year, projects for the development of the Michelin guide in Russia are currently frozen. In addition, publications regarding restaurants of the Moscow selection have also been suspended, in our social networks, on our website and in our app," Michelin said in a communiqué.

The company noted that these decisions do not call into question the talent of the chefs and teams of 69 Russian restaurants highlighted by the guide in October 2021. At that time, facilities in Russia for the first time received Michelin stars, there were nine in total: seven restaurants were assigned one star each, two - two stars each.
