Today, the Khanoba customs post, located on the Azerbaijan-Russia border, was opened after reconstruction, Report informs.

Officials from both countries attended the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, said that effective and business cooperation has been established with Russia in all fields.

According to him, in 2022, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 24% compared to the previous year and reached $3.7 billion.

Speaking about the effective cooperation between the countries on the North-South international transport corridor, and the measures implemented by the Azerbaijani side toward the reconstruction of the road infrastructure and expansion of logistics capabilities, Mustafayev pointed out that the Khanoba border crossing point will play an important role in speeding up border crossing processes, increasing cargo transportation, and efficient regulation of traffic and passenger flow.

The government official added that Azerbaijan is ready to increase the annual volume of freight transportation through the North-South corridor to 15 million tons: “This increase will improve logistics between the two countries.”
