Jabbarov: Azerbaijan, Turkey to sign document on digital trade

Azerbaijani-Turkish relations have reached their peak, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at a round-table discussion on Azerbaijani-Turkish economic relations, Report informs.

He noted that Azerbaijan and Turkey are close to each other on all platforms.

The minister added that Azerbaijan intends to further expand its cooperation with Turkey.

“So far, numerous events for entrepreneurs have been held. Business forums, trade missions with the participation of businessmen create conditions for the implementation of new projects. The trade sphere holds an important place in our bilateral cooperation,” said the minister.

Jabbarov noted that despite an increase in trade in previous years, due to the negative impact of the pandemic on global trade, trade in 2020 decreased by 8 percent and amounted to $4.2 billion.

“I am sure that our joint work, and also the entry into force of the preferential trade agreement signed on February 25 last year will boost our trade ties. By the end of this year, we will reach a volume of trade exceeding the figures achieved in 2019,” he said.

Jabbarov noted that the Memorandum of Understanding on digital trade between Azerbaijan and Turkey will expand trade ties in a new plane.
