Slovakia's Export-Import Bank (Eximbanka SR) is prepared to support promising projects by Slovak companies in Azerbaijan using financial instruments, insurance, and guarantees, Report informs.
Rastislav Podhorec, the director general of Eximbanka SR, announced the readiness following a working visit to Azerbaijan as part of an official delegation accompanying the Slovak president, according to a statement from the bank.
During the visit, Eximbanka representatives held talks with Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev and the Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund, Ulvi Mansurov. The parties discussed upcoming projects by Slovak firms, along with potential financing and insurance frameworks.
"The talks confirmed that there is a concrete interest in Slovak solutions and know-how in the Azerbaijani market," Podhorec said. "Eximbanka is ready to support viable projects and help Slovak companies expand their operations in the country."
He emphasized that Azerbaijan remains a promising market for Slovak businesses, noting that cooperation could expand in sectors such as infrastructure, construction, water management, and the defense industry.
A key focus of the working visit was the reconstruction and development of the Karabakh region, where Slovak companies are already executing investment projects. Eximbanka SR and its financial partners confirmed their interest in backing the further development of Slovak initiatives in the area.
According to the bank's statement, Slovak firms operating in the construction industry-particularly in design, project management, and construction supervision-have long-standing ties, solid experience, and a strong foothold in Azerbaijan that they can leverage for future development and infrastructure projects.
"Slovak companies have a good reputation and a proven track record in Azerbaijan. Our goal is to build on their achievements and support their participation in new projects," Podhorec said.
Eximbanka representatives also met with entrepreneurs and institutional partners from both countries to discuss specific opportunities for collaboration.
Over its operational history, Eximbanka SR has backed more than €300 million worth of exports to Azerbaijan. The bank's largest project in the country involved participating in the construction and modernization of the Heydar Aliyev International Airport infrastructure in Baku, which was implemented jointly with Czech partners.
