The European Union has officially extended economic sanctions against certain sectors of the Russian economy. Report informs citing the Lenta.Ru that now the sanctions are valid until January 31, 2020.
The extended measures are linked to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. It is noted that the decision was made after the report of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron on this subject at the European Council meeting on June 20-21. Sanctions affect the financial, energy and defense sectors, as well as dual-use goods. They were first introduced in July 2014 due to "Russia's actions aimed at destabilizing Ukraine."
