Deputy Minister: Export costs were reduced in 2016

Baku. 14 February. REPORT.AZ/ Baku has today hosted the meeting between Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AzPromo), "Exporters Club" and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham). Report informs, Made in Azerbaijan brand was also presented during the meeting. 

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Economy Sahil Babayev said that a lot of work has been done past year on development of entrepreneurship: "Major reforms were carried in the field of licenses. Also, important steps have been taken with regard to customs duties. Business owners doing a great job in Sumgayit Technologies Park and soon we will witness a great progress. In 2016, our trade turnover amounted to 15% of total non-oil sector.The positive balance was recorded in last year's turnover".

He noted that export costs have been reduced. "We had discussions, and issuance of certificate of origin reduced to one (1) day. By doing so, we have also reduced costs. In addition, preliminary study of target markets has been done, and it is important to our exporters."

S. Babayev added that in last 3 months, 590,000 AZN was paid back to business owners engaged in export: "In order to promote the export, 3-6% of total exported products  are refunded to entrepreneurs. 80% of 600,000 AZN that was paid in last three months accounted for wine exporters".
