Baku plays host to Italy-Azerbaijan business forum

Baku. 23 February. REPORT.AZ/ Baku has today hosted Italy-Azerbaijan business forum.

Report informs, the event was attended by 20 Italian companies. Minister of Economic Development of Italy Carlo Calenda noting the importance of today's forum said that cooperation is developing in 3 directions.

According to him, the trends are in the energy area, the import of products made in Italy, as well as cooperation in the field of industry. "The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project is of great importance in energy cooperation.At the same time, for a long time we are getting large volumes of oil and oil products from Azerbaijan".

C. Calenda noted that there are 4 large Italian companies willing to cooperate with Azerbaijan: "These companies are willing to invest in the country. These are metallurgy, hazel nuts, defense industry, companies operating in the telecommunications sector".

Addressing the forum, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan Niyazi Safarov speaking about the development of bilateral relations said that Italian Prime Minister praised the diversification of the economy in Azerbaijan.
