Tbilisi. 31 January. REPORT.AZ/ "Number of Azerbaijani car buyers to Georgia has sharply decreased in recent years. Majority of Azerbaijani buyers prefer new cars, meeting Euro 4 standards. However, it is very low figure".

Rolavid Soroznishvili, manager of car sales market near Rustavi told Georgia bureau of Report News Agency.

According to him, in the last year, Azerbaijanis buy cars for 300-350 000 USD. However, it doesn't include cars from Batumi and Poti ports as well directly imported from overseas.

The manager said that Azerbaijani buyers mainly prefer cars, produced in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 years. Some of them purchase Mercedes-Benz, Opel, BMW, Volkswagen made in Germany after 2006.

He noted that some of them register cars in Georgia as no deposit required at the border checkpoint for the cars, meeting Euro-4 standard, they drive cars with Georgian number plate. They visit Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey and other countries with Georgian vehicle registration plates.

Clearance for cars in Georgia is carried out in a relevant office established in the market.

R.Soroznishvili said that today main buyers in the market are citizens of Turkey, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Armenia. Armenians buy the cheapest and jalopy cars: "They mainly buy third, fourth-hand cars produced until 2000".
