Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan discuss prospects for expanding economic cooperation

A meeting was held today between the Minister of Economy, co-chairman of the joint intergovernmental commission on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the economic and humanitarian spheres Mikayil Jabbarov and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan Gurbanmammet Elyasov, Report informs, citing the ministry.

The officials discussed the prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation between their countries.

Mikayil Jabbarov congratulated the ambassador on the start of his diplomatic work in Azerbaijan and wished him success. He noted that Azerbaijani-Turkmen relations are constantly developing, a solid contractual and legal basis is being created for expanding cooperation, and trade and economic ties are being strengthened.

At the meeting, information was provided on the prospects for cooperation between the two countries, and opportunities for developing ties in energy, investment, transport, trade, communications and other areas were noted.

The ambassador expressed satisfaction with starting the diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan and stressed that he would make efforts to further strengthen the partnership.

The parties also exchanged views on holding a regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and other issues of mutual interest in the economic sphere.
