Azerbaijan starts importing trout from UK

In January-July 2024, Azerbaijan imported 1,523 tons of trout (live, fresh or chilled, frozen, smoked) worth $6.69 million.

According to Report's calculations based on the data of the State Statistical Committee, this is 2.2 times more than the same period of 2023 in quantity and 2.1 times in value.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan bought 1,434 tons (+2.1 times) of trout from Iran for $6.1 million (+97%), 61 tons (+15 times) from Türkiye for $217,300 (+10 times), 11.1 tons (+17 times) for $195,300 (+13 times) from Ukraine, 11.96 tons (+31 times) from Norway for $101,570 (+23 times), and 2.94 tons (-5%) from Belarus for $52,470 (-7%).

Azerbaijan imported trout from the UK (0.195 tons worth $11,610) for the first time in 13 years (official statistics on foreign trade in open access since 2011).

Iran accounted for 98.5% of the 1,998 tons of total trout imports to Azerbaijan from 11 countries in 2023.
