Azerbaijan exports $102 million worth of services to Georgia in 2021

Georgia’s export of services amounted to $2.5 billion, while imports made up $1.8 billion in 2021, up 61.2% and 25.2%, respectively, from a year earlier, Report informs, citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat).

Consequently, the positive balance on the service turnover increased by sixfold to $724 million.

Some 48.9% or $1.2 billion of services exported by Georgia fell to the share of tourism, which is followed by transport services ($823 million or 32.3%) and telecommunication services ($216 million or 8.5%).

EU countries accounted for 16.6% of exports, while 36.1% of services were exported to the CIS countries and 47.2% to other countries. At the same time, Turkiye imported $365.5 million worth of services, Azerbaijan - $242.1 million and Ukraine - $206.7 million.

Among the services imported last year, the transport sector amounted to $1.1 billion. The next was tourism, with $184 million, and insurance, with $119 million.

About 22% of services were imported from the EU countries, 18.1% from the CIS countries. Georgia imported services worth $345 million from China, $122 million from Iran, and $102 million from each of Turkiye and Azerbaijan.
