Today's 100th anniversary of the first Azerbaijani ballerina

Baku.10 March.REPORT.AZ/ Today is the birthday of the first Azerbaijani ballet dancer, People's Artist Gemer Almaszadeh. On the birthday of Gemer Almaszadeh her memory was honored.

Report informs, Gemer Almaszadeh was born in 1915 in Baku. Great interest in the art of ballet since childhood, brought her to the Baku school of choreography. Gemer's secret that his father insisted that she go in for sports, not ballet, opened after several years. Gemer Almaszadeh began performing on the stage of the Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre since 1930.

In 1931, she married Afrasiyab Badalbeyli. In 1940, at the ballet of Afrasiyab Badalbeyli names as "Maiden Tower" ("Maiden Tower"), she appears first on stage as a professional dancer.

Gemer Almaszadeh that has long served as Director of Baku Choreography School, died on 7 April 2006 at the age of 91 years.

Ballet tradition Gemer Almaszadeh continues to this day, the young performers draw from her work a lot of useful knowledges.
