Turkic States establish Union of Ski Resorts

A memorandum on establishing the Union of Ski Resorts of Turkic States was signed in Istanbul today, Report informs, citing Shahdag Tourism Center CJSC under the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency.

The memorandum appoints Azerbaijan as the chair and general secretary of the Union for the initial two-year term.

The event saw participation from representatives of mountain resorts in Azerbaijan (Shahdag Tourism Center), Türkiye (“Ulu Dag”), Uzbekistan (Amirsoy”), and Kazakhstan (Shimbulak).

During the meeting, representatives showcased the potential and tourist attractions of their mountain resorts.

Key discussion points included the development of mountain resorts in line with tourism advancements, strengthening cooperative relations, boosting tourist appeal, planning joint projects, sharing information and experiences, creating training programs for professional development, devising marketing strategies, organizing joint events, implementing unified ski passes, expanding Union membership, and other related topics.

The meeting also addressed tourism development in Turkic states, guided by the “Turkish Vision - 2040” and the “Development Strategy of the Turkic States for 2022-2026” by the Organization of Turkic States.
