Turkey loses more than 70% of tourists due to COVID-19

In the first ten months of this year, the number of foreign tourists in Turkey decreased by 72.5% due to coronavirus, said the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Report informs, citing RIA Novosti, that only 11.2 million foreigners toured Turkish resorts this year, and in 2019, more than 52 million people visited the country.

Despite the pandemic, tourists who dare to come to the country will go to Istanbul more in 2020 (37%). Antalya took second place in the ranking of the most visited. 28% of tourists rested there.

According to the latest data, more than 447,000 people in Turkey have contracted the coronavirus.

In the wake of the second wave of COVID-19, the government announced a curfew over the weekend, closed cafes and restaurants, shut down businesses, and sent students to distance learning.
